No. 5 - Eschscholzia californica - Postcard Set of 10

Eschscholzia californica, also known as the California poppy, is native to the western United States as well as to Mexico in Sonora and Baja California. It grows as an annual or perennial and readily self-seeds, creating golden carpets in native grasslands. 

Winning by a landslide, Eschscholzia californica was chosen in December of 1890 by the California State Floral Society to be the state flower and was made official by the state legislature in 1903.
